All About Bellevue Square

Bellevue Square is a shopping center that is located in Bellevue, Washington. There are close to 200 stores. The mall's anchor stores are Macy and Nordstrom. Bellevue Square was opened in 1946. It was the very first shopping center in the suburban northwest. In 1946, though materials were hard to get due to the war, the government was convinced to allow the developer to add a movie theater to the building. They convinced them that it would boost morale, so the 550-seat Bellevue Theater was made. In the 1970s, the mall underwent a renovation where the entire shopping plaza was merged. Originally, Bellevue Square was made up of seven blocks. After the renovation, it was merged into one 2-level, fully enclosed shopping mall.

Owner

Surprisingly, Bellevue Square has not been bought by a Real Estate investment trust, as most other malls and shopping plazas have been. This mall is still owned by the original owners, Kemper Freeman Jr. and his family. This is just one of the things that make this mall so unique.
